Help Kids Brush With New Disney App
It is well known that kids and adults need to brush their teeth twice a day in order to maintain good dental health. What’s not as obvious is that we should be brushing for a minimum of two minutes regardless of the kinds of toothbrushes or toothpastes we use. Beaverton dentist Dr. Bruno da Costa and his team at Harmony Dental offer these resources to help keep kids on track with brushing their teeth!
2×2 Videos for Brushing Teeth
The Partnership for Health Mouths/Healthy Lives recently partnered with the Ad Council to create the 2min2x movement. This website is a collection of resources for parents and kids regarding good dental health habits. Included on the site are checklists and calendars for brushing, apps for parents to download, and fun, educational videos for kids to watch.
These videos aren’t only to be used as an educational alternative to other cartoons for your child. These dental videos are about two minutes long, which makes them ideal to play for your children while they are brushing their teeth. Your kids can be learning all about good dental health while brushing along with the videos. There are several videos from which to choose, and some of the characters include Elmo from Sesame Street, Tom & Jerry, and Bugs Bunny among others.
New Disney App Makes Brushing Fun
Another partnership to benefit kids and their oral health has been struck recently by Oral-B and Disney. Together, they have created the Disney Magic Timer App. Free to download from iTunes or Google Play, this app encourages kids to brush their teeth by providing a place for them to make goals and receive rewards based on brushing for the two-minute minimum each time. As kids continue to brush, they download digital stickers of their favorite Marvel and Disney characters, including Captain America, Rapunzel, Thor, Cinderella, and more!
Maintain Good Dental Care for Kids
The Disney app needs to be used with a Crest or Oral-B Pro-Health Stages product for activation purposes. Regardless of the videos or apps you use to encourage your kids to brush, this might be an ideal opportunity to grab some fun dental tools. Include your children in picking out new fun and colorful toothbrushes, along with toothpaste and dental floss in favorite flavors. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but these special items can provide more incentive for your kids to practice good daily dental care habits.
